Ben Affleck’s smoking meme, called “sad Affleck,” has recently caught attention once again. Recently, paparazzi clicked photos of the actor lighting a cigarette while donning an unhappy expression. As the picture made its way online, people were reminded of his 2016 viral photo. The “Good Will Hunting” star gave a similar vibe at that time, too.
Photos show Ben Affleck accidentally recreating ‘sad Affleck’ smoking meme
Ben Affleck unintentionally recreated his “sad Affleck” smoking meme, making fans recall the 2016 photo. The Daily Mail shared several pictures from his latest outing, which accidentally brought the meme back. In one of the images, the 53-year-old was seen waiting for his car at a valet parking while holding a cigarette in his mouth.
He seemed to light it, donning an expression that didn’t seem happy. He was brooding and appeared to be thinking about something. Despite holding an annoyed facial expression, the Oscar winner looked dapper in a grey jacket over a light shade shirt, which seemed crumpled. He wore khaki trousers with brown leather boots. It also looked like a man was accompanying him while he was smoking.
Once the pictures took over the internet, netizens pointed out that it gave the “sad Affleck” meme vibe. In 2016, a photo of the “Gone Girl” star became viral. It featured him in a blue sweatshirt and jeans, leaning over a wall with an exhausted expression while holding a cigarette in one hand. He seemed sad as he closed his eyes, looking tired.
Later, in 2022, the Hollywood actor opened up on his most-talked-about brooding moment. He stated that the meme didn’t bother him until he thought of his kids. “But then my kids see it and I think, ‘Oh, are they going to think their dad is fundamentally sad or they have to worry about me?’ That’s really tough,” he had said.
For those unversed, Affleck shares three kids with ex-wife Jennifer Garner — Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel.
