The 31-year-old artist, who welcomed his baby boy with wife Hailey Bieber last August, reflected on the moment during a Twitch livestream earlier this week. The discussion came shortly after Justin launched his Twitch channel, marking a new career venture as a streamer.
Speaking candidly while sitting on a couch with friends, the “Peaches” hitmaker recalled the “tension.” He reminisced, “Cause we had a doula and then we had a nurse as well, and the nurse and the doula were really kind of butting heads. Then I was butting heads with the doula.” Justin explained that he may have come across as “really strong” during the exchange, which caused his wife to feel “anxious” about the situation.
According to Justin, Hailey encouraged him to apologize and “clear the air.” The singer said he did offer an apology but admitted that he felt “the moment was being taken away” from him. “I was just like, ‘I’m sorry, I’m really sorry, my emotions are heightened, I don’t want you to take away from my moment either as the dad, like I got this too,'” he said.
The pop star added that during parts of the delivery, he felt Hailey was “pushing” him to the side when he wanted to comfort her. The Rhode founder has also previously spoken about her own labor experience, describing it as challenging and emotionally intense.
