Sia is reportedly “devastated” that her custody battle has become a public affair. The renowned singer, who tied the knot with Dan Bernad in 2023, reportedly filed for divorce in March this year. The duo was blessed with a son, Somersault Wonder Bernad. However, Sia, who keeps a low profile and is often seen covering her face, is unhappy that their custody battle has been publicized.
Attention around Sia’s custody battle has been ‘painful’ for her, per source
Sia is known for maintaining her privacy and often wears masks and wigs during performances to keep away from undue media attention. Hence, it’s natural that she feels worried about the fact that the custody battle over her son has become a headline.
On October 28, her estranged husband, Bernad’s, request for sole custody of their son, Somersault, was denied. A source told PEOPLE that the 49-year-old singer felt “devastated” that the custody battle got a lot of media attention and was out there for the public to see.
A source said, “She’s always been guarded her personal life. She’s heartbroken that her ongoing divorce and custody battle has become public.” The source continued, “She’s devastated that something so private has turned into a headline. She’s incredibly protective of her family, and this attention has been very painful for her.” Another insider close to the singer said that she is completely focused on “her child right now” and “wants to shield” Somersault.
Meanwhile, a different source claimed that even though she is a star, “she’s managed to stay private in a way few artists can.” Hence, the publicization of the custody battle has been “devastating” for her. “This has been very difficult, but she’s staying focused on her child and her recovery,” a source added.
Sia, who also adopted two boys in 2019, got the primary custody of her son, Somersault she shares with her estranged husband, Bernad.
