Dakota Johnson isn’t in a hurry to get back into a serious relationship.
The Fifty Shades of Grey actress broke up with Chris Martin in June after eight years together. While it’s been months since the split, Dakota is taking things easy on the relationship front for now. Dakota “has been slowly dating again and she’s happy,” said one source.
She and the Coldplay singer had been living together in Malibu before going their separate ways. Dakota had been in some long-term relationships before Chris, previously dating musician Noah Gersh and actor Jordan Masterson.

Breaking up is hard to do, as Neil Sedaka once sang, but Dakota seems to be doing much better since her recent split.
These days, Dakota is “in a great place,” a source told People. “She’s busy, fulfilled, and she’s moved on,” they go on to say. The pair were previously engaged and were photographed as recently as May. Rumors of their engagement began in 2020, though neither was apparently in a rush to tie the knot.
Dakota’s movie Splitsville debuted at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival in May. It was released in theatres across the US in August. Before that, she was part of the film Materialists, which has grossed over $100 million at the box office.
There had been speculation that one of Dakota’s pet peeves was among the many reasons she and Chris broke up. Last month, she revealed that one of her red flags was men wearing flip-flops.
Earlier this year, Chris co-wrote an extended version of the song Ma Meilleure Ennemie from the Arcane League of Legends soundtrack.
Dakota will co-star in a psychological romantic thriller called Verity next year.
