Prince William and Kate Middleton Officially Move Into New Home With Their Children: Details

The royal heir and his family officially have a home.

During the school half-term, Prince William, Kate Middleton and their three children relocated to a new house. It’s a move that had been in the works for a while. The relocation plan first announced in early August. They’ll still be in Windsor, just a little further from Adelaide Cottage, where they were situated for about three years.

They had previously been based at Kensington Palace in London.

Moving into their new forever home. William, Kate and the family are hoping for a fresh start in what’s been difficult times for them. William’s father, King Charles, and Kate were both diagnosed with cancer in 2024.

The Telegraph confirmed that William’s family are settling into their new residence in Windsor. It’s only about four miles from Adelaide Cottage but considerably bigger. The new home has significantly more space, with eight bedrooms, compared to their house in Adelaide, which had four.

While more space likely means more work, the royals won’t be having any live-in staff at their new property. The children’s longtime nanny, Maria Turrion Borallo, and the housekeepers will stay at other smaller properties on the estate.

The Prince and his wife, who both pushed for the eviction of his uncle and the now former Prince Andrew from the Royal Lodge mansion, will be temporarily living closer to him for a short period. Forest Lodge is about a two-mile hop across Windsor Great Park. Andrew is due to be evicted from Royal Lodge and relocate to the Sandringham Estate, which is owned by his brother Charles.

The royals’ new home in Windsor was originally built in the 1770s. It was bought by the Crown Estate in 1829, with the Deputy Ranger of Windsor Great Park residing there until the 1930s. There were rumors in the 1970s that Princess Anne and her husband, Mark Phillips, might move in, but that never happened.
