Many have been wondering where Al Roker has been since his absence on The Today Show and when he might come back, but we don’t have to wonder anymore. The weatherman crashed the morning show on Tuesday, November 4 on several segments despite it technically being his day off. But it looks like Roker couldn’t wait to reunite with his fellow cohosts.
Roker crashes Today Show segments multiple times
During the 3rd Hour of Today, Roker crashed an interview with Wicked star Jordan Litz by cohosts Craig Melvin, Dylan Dreyer, and Sheinelle Jones. While Litz explained what it was like completing the New York City marathon, Melvin couldn’t help but notice the weatherman waving through the window outside.
“I gotta be honest with you,” Melvin said. “It’s hard to keep track and focus, because this guy.” He pointed to Roker, standing in a blue suit and raising his large cup as he greeted his cohosts. Jones then explained that the 71-year-old weatherman was absent due to a “late night.”
“Oh my God, Al Roker!” she said. “Thanks for coming in to work today, buddy. In his defense, he got in really late last night, so we’re letting him sleep in.”
Melvin tried shouting back at Roker, saying that they were trying to do a show, but he made fun of the crew with a talking hand gesture.
The weatherman continued crashing the interview, poking behind Melvin and Jones, before finally finding his way into the studio later on. With a quick wave on set, Roker said, “I’d love to stay, but I’ve gotta go. We’ve got things to do.”
During his absence, the anchor has been taking a break from the show and appreciating the fall weather. Roker is lined up to be a cohost for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade alongside fellow cohost Savannah Guthrie and special guest Hoda Kotb, who retired from The Today Show in January earlier this year.
