Erika Kirk doesn’t want an apology from anyone unless it’s legit.
That’s the message the widow of Charlie Kirk is sending to the likes of Jimmy Kimmel. ABC temporarily suspended the late-night talk-show host for controversial comments made following Charlie’s tragic assassination. Erika, isn’t interested in more I’m sorry’s unless it’s from the heart.
Erika claims that Sinclair Broadcast Group, which owns many ABC stations reached out to her team to ask what they could do to make things right.
Charlie Kirk’s widow Erika Kirk spoke about Jimmy Kimmel in a chat with Jesse Watters

Despite going through an unspeakable tragedy, Erika has shown remarkable resilience and grace throughout it all. In an interview with Jesse Watters Primetime, Erika said, “If you want to say, ‘I’m sorry’ to someone who’s grieving, go right ahead.” If it isn’t in their heart, though, her response to Jimmy and others was: “Don’t do it. I don’t want it. I don’t need it.”
Her willingness to forgive inspired celebrities like Tim Allen to do the same. The comedian credited Erika’s forgiveness for him doing the same to the man who killed his father. Tim’s dad was killed by a drunk driver when he was 11.
Getting Jimmy to apologize was a notion that US Vice President JD Vance had previously brought up. During his suspension, JD said that the action taken against Jimmy was due to low ratings and that he wasn’t funny. He’s expressed disappointment that Jimmy hasn’t directly apologized for his comments after Charlie’s death.
Six days after Jimmy’s suspension, his late-night program, Jimmy Kimmel Live! returned to ABC. Many comedians and late-night talk-show hosts spoke out in support of Jimmy during his show’s hiatus.
Charlie died on September 10 during a Turning Point USA event in Utah.
