Princess Eugenie has been spotted in public for the first time since her dad, Andrew Mountbatten Windsor, was stripped of his titles. Eugenie’s husband, Jack Brooksbank, and some friends joined the Princess on a walk around leafy West London on November 4th.
Princess Eugenie was spotted with her husband in London
In photos obtained by PEOPLE, Princess Eugenie and her husband strolled through West London with a few friends. This monumentally marks the first time the Princess has been seen in public since King Charles formally stripped his brother, the former Prince Andrew, of his titles.
“His Majesty has today initiated a formal process to remove the Style, Titles and Honours of Prince Andrew,” Buckingham Palace said in the statement on October 30th. The statement also confirmed the former Prince is now simply Andrew Mountbatten Windsor.
The statement also noted that Andrew, along with his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, will be leaving their Royal Lodge mansion. “His lease on Royal Lodge has, to date, provided him with legal protection to continue in residence,” it read. “Formal notice has now been served to surrender the lease, and he will move to alternative private accommodation.”
Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice are yet to publicly comment on the stripping of their father’s title. Or the subsequent removal of their parents from Royal Lodge. They were, however, spotted together in London yesterday. Photos published in the Mail Online show the sisters hugging in the street and seemingly “consoling” each other.
Amid the Andrew scandal, fans had speculated whether the Princesses might lose their titles, too. Prince William reportedly “threatened” his cousins with this – although that rumor has been denied by Kensington Palace.
