Kourtney Kardashian’s latest vagina lollipop has stirred up conversation among doctors and health experts. The reality star’s wellness brand, Lemme, launched Lemme Purr Probiotic Lollipops, which claim to support women’s vaginal health. While several medical professionals agree that Kardashian’s idea may raise awareness about women’s health, the product itself does not have strong scientific proof behind its claims.
Kourtney Kardashian’s lollipops are being discussed heavily among health experts
Kourtney Kardashian’s vagina lollipop is bright yellow and pineapple-flavored. It contains vitamin C and a probiotic strain called Bacillus coagulans SNZ 1969®. According to Kardashian’s team, the product’s aim is to help improve vaginal balance. However, doctors exclusively spoke to Newsweek, saying that while probiotics may have some benefits, the strain used in these candies has not been proven to affect vaginal health.
Dr. Nirusha Kumaran, a women’s health specialist, said the science behind probiotics for vaginal care is still developing. She stated, “Certain probiotics have been shown to help maintain a healthy vaginal microbiome.” But, “the effectiveness depends heavily on the specific strain, the dosage, and whether it can survive digestion and reach the vaginal environment.”
Dr. Kate McLean, an OB-GYN, stated that the strain featured in Kardashian’s product is primarily known for its digestive benefits, rather than its impact on vaginal balance. The doctor said, “These ingredients aren’t harmful [but] they don’t provide the same kind of targeted, evidence-based support for vaginal microbiome balance as the strains used in clinically studied women’s probiotics.”
Meanwhile, Kumaran acknowledged that the product could be “a fun and harmless wellness treat for most consumers. Besides, it may “provide some general gut support.” However, there has been “no strong scientific evidence that eating a lollipop with probiotics can meaningfully or reliably improve vaginal health or alter the balance of vaginal bacteria.”
Both doctors added that strains like Lactobacillus rhamnosus GR-1 and Lactobacillus reuteri RC-14 have proven results for this purpose. Furthermore, they noted that the sugar and flavoring in the candy could actually interfere with vaginal health for some women.
Dr. Kumaran added that celebrity wellness products, like Kardashian‘s vagina lollipop, often attract attention. However, there may not always be grounded in science. She advised, “While the concept behind a ‘women’s health probiotic lollipop’ is innovative, it’s important to remember that ingesting probiotics orally doesn’t always guarantee benefits for vaginal health.”
