Ex-Prince Andrew Will ‘Probably’ Have To Bow to Daughters After Losing Royal Titles

Andrew Mountbatten Windsor has faced mounting scrutiny for years because of his ties to Jeffrey Epstein. Public anger grew, and pressure also built inside the family. King Charles responded a few weeks back and stripped Andrew of his remaining royal status. That decision followed a long stretch of criticism and frustrated calls for accountability.

With his titles gone, protocol now flips in a very personal way. The shift likely requires Andrew to show deference to his own daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.

According to the Daily Mail’s Palace Confidential, royal biographer Robert Hardman unpacked the consequences of King Charles’s move.

Buckingham Palace confirmed that Andrew lost his HRH style, his Duke and Prince titles, and two honors. The statement added he “will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor” and must leave Royal Lodge, where he lived since 2008.

Robert described King Charles as the “fountain of justice.” He likened the decision to “effectively categorising him in the same way as war criminals and enemies of state.” He said the King used his prerogative with government approval after speaking to the Prime Minister.

Beatrice and Eugenie remain untouched. Robert explained, “They are still Princesses and HRH because they are the children of the son of a reigning Monarch.” He praised them as “very nice young women” who have stayed level-headed.

Their status now outranks their father. Asked if Andrew must bow to them, Robert answered plainly. “Yes, he probably will,” he said, since Andrew is now a commoner and they retained their titles.

Robert noted Andrew already has a passport, but he may not travel much. He has not “ruled out” a form of “actual exile.” He added, “Saudi Arabia springs to mind, it has a fairly good record on taking on waifs and strays nobody else wants.”

Robert also quipped that Andrew could try local politics in Norfolk. “I’m not sure he’d get many votes,” he said.

The shake-up reaches beyond housing. Andrew received formal notice to vacate Royal Lodge after years of criticism. He is set to start over as a tenant on the Sandringham estate.

Robert’s takeaway landed firmly. “If you seriously let down the Royal side, then these things that over the years members of the family took for granted can be taken away.”
