At the National Memorial Arboretum today, Kate met several World War Two veterans. One of those veterans was 100-year-old Bill Redston, with whom the Princess of Wales spent some time.

During their chat, Kate knelt and held Bill’s hand and got an insight into his life. The sweet moment was captured on video and shared by PA reporter, Stephanie Wareham.

Per Stephanie, Kate asked the veteran his tips for “keeping well” – and she was surprised by his secret to longevity. “Kate was impressed to learn he had completed the London Marathon at 65,” the video caption revealed. “And the New York marathon at 66.”

Although she hasn’t run any marathons herself, the Princess is an avid sports fan and player of tennis and hockey. Kate also has many sports patronages. These include the Rugby Football Union, The All England Lawn Tennis, and Croquet Club, to name a few.

In a carousel of images shared to the official Prince and Princess of Wales Instagram account, Kate is seen meeting more veterans and laying a wreath. “Joining veterans, families, and serving members of the Armed Forces at the National Memorial Arboretum to mark Armistice Day,” the caption said.

It continued: “Today, on the eleventh day of the eleventh month, we commemorate not only the armistice signed at the end of World War I, but remember those who have bravely given so much in conflicts around the world.”
