A new royal rift may be brewing behind palace walls. According to reports, Prince William is said to be “strongly opposed” to King Charles’ recent decision to bring Princess Beatrice back into the royal spotlight. The move has allegedly sparked tension between the monarch and his son, as the family continues to navigate the delicate fallout from Prince Andrew’s scandals.
King Charles and Prince William clashing over Princess Beatrice, claims source
Royal insiders claim that Prince William and King Charles are not seeing eye to eye over the King’s decision to reintroduce Princess Beatrice to more visible royal duties. According to columnist Rob Shuter, the Prince of Wales considers the move “too soon” and “too risky.” Meanwhile, King Charles reportedly feels it’s a necessary step toward family healing.
The dispute allegedly began after the King personally approved Beatrice’s appointment as Deputy Patron of The Outward Bound Trust. The position was once held by her father, Prince Andrew, before his step back from public life. Beatrice, 37, has already begun representing the Trust, making a hospital visit in London last week.
Sources claim that William had advised waiting until after his father’s next health review before reinstating any of the York family in public roles. “William wanted the Yorks out of sight until after the King’s next health review,” an insider reportedly told Shuter. “But His Majesty insisted — he thinks the family needs to heal in public.”
While Buckingham Palace has not commented on any reported tensions, royal experts suggest King Charles’ affection for his niece may have influenced his decision. Former royal butler Grant Harrold, who worked for the King between 2007 and 2011, told the Daily Express that Charles has always shared a “very close” bond with Beatrice. “Despite what’s happening with her father, the charities and organizations she works with still value the support of the young princess,” Harrold said, adding that her charitable work has been nothing short of “brilliant.”
For King Charles, however, the decision to spotlight Beatrice appears personal. But for Prince William, the concern reportedly lies in timing and perception. As Shuter put it, “The King may have won this round, but William’s patience is wearing thin.”
