Sabrina Carpenter is going for a psychedelic slide down the rabbit hole. The pop superstar is set to star and produce an (as yet) untitled movie musical based on Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll for Universal Pictures. While her specific role hasn’t been announced, she’d honestly be a perfect Alice!
Sabrina Carpenter will produce and star in the Alice in Wonderland musical movie for Universal

Sabrina, who just released her latest album Man’s Best Friend in August, has been keeping busy. She also featured in Taylor Swift’s Life of a Showgirl album and sang alongside the pop icon on the track with the same name.
Now it looks like she’s going back to her musical acting roots. Sabrina has a stellar team assembled for her film project. Lorene Scafaria, who wrote and directed the crime film Hustlers with Jennifer Lopez, will write the film.
The producer is Marc Platt. People know Marc for his Broadway and film productions of Wicked. Joining him in producing will be Elysa Koplovitz Dutton and Leslie Morgenstein of Alloy Entertainment. The company is behind shows like Gossip Girl and Pretty Little Liars.
Everyone is familiar with Lewis Carroll’s Victorian-era classic. The story follows a girl named Alice as she falls down a rabbit hole and discovers a fantastical world. The story has a Disney animated film and a Tim Burton movie starring Johnny Depp as the infamous Mad Hatter.
Right now, there is no announcement what role Sabrina will play. According to the Hollywood Reporter, sources say this is a passion project for the singer. Sources say she approached the studio over a year ago with specific ideas and even a lookbook.
It looks like she’s going to be taking a break from arresting gorgeous guests at her shows and racking up Grammy nominations (six to be exact!) and is heading back to her acting roots. With her keen eye for detail and passion for music, there’s no doubt the project is going to be extra special.
