Kayla Nicole reignited rumors of a feud with Taylor Swift when she shared her Halloween costume on Instagram last month. The video shows Nicole dancing to Toni Braxton’s song “He Wasn’t Man Enough.” She was wearing the singer’s outfit from the original music video. The song choice prompted fans to believe that it was a dig at her ex, Travis Kelce, and his fiancée, Taylor Swift.
However, Nicole recently clarified that the video was not a jab at Swift. In Saturday’s episode of her “Pre-Game” podcast, Nicole stated that she simply wanted to “celebrate” Toni Braxton. She mentioned that it was just her Halloween ensemble.
“Honestly, like as with anything, I think that people will try to project their own narratives,” Nicole stated. “I think it’s very important to say this in this moment, I am not in the business of tearing other women down. I am in the business of celebrating them,” the star declared.
Nicole went on to gush about Toni Braxton. She said, “This moment was about celebrating an icon in my culture, someone that I have listened to since I was very, very young.”
In a previous episode, Nicole revealed that the Halloween costume was inspired by her childhood best friend, named Taylor.
“I specifically remember driving home from private school in my uniform in the back of a paddy wagon with Taylor, and her mom was playing this song,” Nicole stated. The star made it clear that she was not referring to Taylor, the pop star.
Taylor Swift has remained silent on the matter and has not made any official response to the rumored feud.
