The Stand Up singer took on that role in Singapore recently in an unscripted incident. When you’re as famous as her Wicked co-star, Ariana Grande is, fans want to get as close to you as possible. Cynthia, though, made sure the mega star wasn’t harmed on the yellow carpet at Universal Studios in Asia.
Fortunately, Cynthia was able to intervene when a fan jumped the barricade to try to reach Ariana. The two were promoting the new movie Wicked: For Good.

Ariana is used to seeing crazed fans desperate to be near her, but it can still leave her with emotional scars. The video shared on X, formerly Twitter, shows the Problem singer visibly shook.
After Cynthia’s intervention, security removed the fan, who got a chorus of boos from the audience. That alleged person apparently makes a career of pulling these kinds of stunts. It’s believed his online persona is Pyjama Man, who posts videos of himself rushing onstage and goofing off on TikTok. No word yet on any consequences they may face for this recent action.
This is not the first time that the two Wicked actresses have had to deal with an unfortunate situation. During a stop in Europe to promote the film, Cynthia and Ariana comforted a crying fan following a drink spill mishap.
While that moment in Singapore was a frightening one for Ariana and her co-stars, the rest of the premiere night reportedly went off without a hitch. The movie, which debuted earlier this month in Brazil, is scheduled to be released in theatres in the US on November 21.
Both Ariana and Cynthia were nominated for Oscars in the original Wicked movie, which came out last year.
