Balenciaga’s couture chapter under newly appointed creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli is officially underway, and Ariana Grande was the first to wear his custom piece. The actor arrived at the “Wicked: For Good” premiere wearing his very first custom creation for the fashion house. The sequin gown marked a major moment for both her and the luxury brand. It was a full circle moment, marking Grande’s return to Glinda’s signature pink palette after a run of darker, bolder fashion choices.

The “Wicked: For Good” premiere brought together the movie’s cast, including Grande, Cynthia Erivo, and Michelle Yeoh. It stayed true to the meticulously crafted wardrobe aesthetic that has defined the singer-actor’s press tour. Styled by Law Roach, the look further elevated her Glinda-inspired fashion narrative to cinematic levels.
Ariana Grande’s sugary pink Balenciaga gown shimmered under the lights, covered in sequins in varying sizes. Piccioli designed the gown with a tucked drop waist that opened into a sculptural, gathered, and pleated back, finished with a delicate bow.
The dress flowed into a sweeping train that trailed behind Grande like a floating veil. Moreover, Law Roach noted that this ensemble marks Pierpaolo Piccioli’s first custom couture creation for Balenciaga. Grande finished the ensemble with Swarovski drop earrings and a curated mix of rings. The jewelry pieces added just enough sparkle without competing with the gown’s dazzling sequin work.
The 32-year-old paired the couture piece with a polished beauty look. Her warm brunette hair was styled in a sleek ballerina bun. In addition, hairstylist Alyx Liu softened the look with wispy ends and delicate, side-swept baby bangs that framed her face.
Her makeup, which was the creation of Michael Anthony with R.E.M. Beauty products, highlighted romantic pink tones. Grande went with flushed rose blush, a glossy soft-pink lip, and a doll-like eyeliner look that enhanced her Glinda-inspired charm.
Grande’s return to pink marks a notable shift, as her “Wicked: For Good” wardrobe had recently leaned in a very different direction. At earlier premieres, she embraced deeper hues from a black Bob Mackie gown to a sculptural Alexander McQueen look, as well as contemporary designs by Tanner Fletcher and Sophie Couture.
