Videos posted by D-Nice and the Debbie Allen Dance Company show the two facing each other while dancing to tracks including “Candy” by Cameo and “Before I Let Go” by Maze and Frankie Beverley. D-Nice wrote, “Last night was a vibe! I kept the vibes flowing as we celebrated @therealdebbieallen in a major way. @tomcruise is invited to the barbecue!”
The dance academy captioned its post, “What an honor it was to celebrate @therealdebbieallen last night,” noting her upcoming Honorary Oscar.
Cruise, 63, and Allen, 75, received Academy Honorary Awards on Nov. 16, alongside Dolly Parton and production designer Wynn Thomas. The Academy first announced the honorees in June. Academy President Janet Yang stated, “This year’s Governors Awards will celebrate four legendary individuals whose extraordinary careers and commitment to our filmmaking community continue to leave a lasting impact.” She described Allen as “a trailblazing choreographer and actor” and said Cruise is being recognized as “a committed advocate of the theatrical experience, and he helped to usher the industry through a challenging time during the COVID-19 pandemic.” (via People)
