Angelina Jolie and Billy Bob Thornton reportedly met each other on the set of the film “Pushing Tin.” The duo got closer together and tied the knot in 2000. However, their marriage didn’t last long, and the couple parted ways in 2003.
In a conversation with Rolling Stone, the filmmaker talked about his series, “Landman,” his experience navigating fame, other acting roles, and his relationship dynamic with Jolie.
When asked about whether being married six times made him lose faith in the institution, Thornton replied that he doesn’t feel that way now. He talked about his married life with his wife, Connie Angland, saying he finally found the right relationship. He further talked about his ex, Jolie, saying they had a “great time together.”
“And of course, Angelina [Jolie] and I had a great time together. That was one of the greatest times of my life. She and I are still very, very close friends. And that was the one that ended up being a really civilized breakup. We simply split up because our lifestyles were so different,” said Thornton.
Angelina and Billy were heavily photographed during their relationship. Reflecting on that time period, the “Landman” star said that the entire thing was “very weird.” He further said, “We couldn’t go anywhere. I mean, we did, and then of course we had times when we would say things that became sound bites or whatever.”
Angelina and Billy, who got married on May 5, 2000, ended their relationship three years later. But they are still cordial with each other and continue to share mutual respect despite their split.
