Emily Blunt opens up about friendship with Dwayne Johnson
Emily Blunt, wearing a Ralph Lauren velvet dress, described her friendship with Dwayne Johnson while discussing the emotional impact of her latest film. She detailed how much it meant to have the 53-year-old by her side during the experience.
Blunt said, “It’s been really invigorating,” explaining how unpredictable press days for “The Smashing Machine” have been. The British actress added, “People have cried talking to us about this movie. It’s wonderful.”
The Golden Globe Award winner then smiled as she spoke about her friend and co-star. Blunt described Johnson as her “enormous crash mat to kind of carry me through it,” praising him for his dedication. Talking about her accolade, she added, “He’s giving me this tonight. It means so much to me ‘cause he’s shooting ‘Jumanji.’ He doesn’t have time for this.” The 42-year-old emphasized, “He’s too sweet.”
The pair’s friendship carries off the set, too, with Emily Blunt mentioning that their children are fond of one another, even though they live on different coasts. She playfully added, “He just needs to move to New York.”
Looking ahead, Blunt said she is ready for some downtime after a busy year, adding that she’s preparing for a “full-on stretchy pants break” for Thanksgiving, and planning to cook while her parents visit. She said, “My mom is so thrilled when she’s off duty,” adding, “She just wants to drink a cocktail and watch me cook.”
Through every role and red carpet, Emily Blunt’s friendship with Dwayne Johnson remains steady.
