Ethan Slater is all praise for Ariana Grande’s performance in ‘Wicked: For Good’

Ethan Slater walked the red carpet at the “Wicked: For Good” event in New York City, speaking with Extra’s Mona Kosar Abdi about the highly anticipated second installment of the two-part musical adaptation. Reflecting on the new film, Slater said he is “so proud” of the project, noting that it feels “so different” from the first movie while remaining the “true continuation” of the story. Because both parts were filmed consecutively, he explained that the sequel “doesn’t feel like a sequel” in the traditional sense, but rather an extension of the same creative experience.

Slater praised the ensemble cast repeatedly, highlighting the performances that audiences can expect to see when the film premieres on November 21. He praised Ariana Grande’s work in the role of Glinda as “out of this world,” adding that Cynthia Erivo’s portrayal is “unbelievable.”

He also expressed admiration for their off-screen connection, calling their friendship a “beautiful” example of the ways they support one another through the intensity of press tours and global promotion.

Despite the demanding schedule for the film’s world tour, Slater commended Cynthia Erivo’s commitment as she continued appearances after losing her voice, saying no one is “tougher than those two women.” He added that both leads are deeply devoted to the fans and the legacy of “Wicked”.
