Jason Kelce’s Daughters Helped Him Discover His ‘Softer Side’

Retired NFL legend Jason Kelce opened up about how his four daughters have changed him, revealing a more nurturing and patient side of himself.

Jason Kelce has built a legendary NFL resume. From Super Bowl champion, six-time First-Team All-Pro to seven-time Pro Bowl selection after joining the Philadelphia Eagles in 2011. He retired in 2024, closing out a career that cemented him as a franchise icon. But Kelce says the role that transformed him the most came off the field, inside his own home.

Kelce and his wife, Kylie Kelce, share four daughters named Wyatt, Elliotte, Bennett, and Finnley, and he says fatherhood changed him in ways even football never could. “There’s no question I am becoming a better person,” Kelce told Sporting News. He explained that growing up with his brother, Travis Kelce, their household was filled with what he called “a lot of testosterone and masculinity,” crediting their mother, Donna Kelce, for handling the chaos.

Now, surrounded by his wife and daughters, Kelce says the emotional tone of his everyday life is completely different. “Being a parent in general brings out a nurturing side and a much softer side, probably of most people. But, I do think having daughters has magnified that,” he said. Kelce admitted that before marriage and kids, his world revolved around football. But everything changed after he got married in 2018 and welcomed their first daughter a year later.

“The moment you’re married to somebody, it really sets what is most important in your life now shifts, and the more you have kids, that shifts again,” he said. Kelce added that fatherhood has reshaped his sense of responsibility. “I think you learn about patience. I’m not just going out and doing something and representing myself. I’m representing the people I love and setting an example for the children that I’m raising.”
