Kelsea Ballerini’s Video Gets a Comment from Ex Chase Stoke

Chase Stokes is calling out critics who are stirring drama around Kelsea Ballerini’s latest music release. The “Outer Banks” actor jumped into the comments section of Ballerini’s new TikTok video after fans began accusing the country-pop singer of throwing shade at his ex, Madelyn Cline, in one of her new songs. Stokes stepped in publicly for the first time since the video went live, slamming the negativity and shutting down the narrative.

Stokes made it clear he wasn’t having it, shutting down negative speculation with a message: “These comments are f–king weird. Grow up.” His quick defense comes just months after he and Ballerini ended their nearly three-year relationship in September, and shows the actor still isn’t tolerating hateful comments aimed at his former partner. On Nov. 16, Ballerini posted a glam TikTok in which she lip-synched to her track “People Pleaser” while wearing an all-red look. She captioned the clip, “For my fellow people pleasers. I see you.”

Several users flooded the comments, insisting that another track on her Mount Pleasant EP — a song titled “Emerald City,” was unmistakably directed at Chase’s “Outer Banks” co-star and ex-girlfriend Madelyn Cline. One user wrote, “Disappointed by ur Emerald song but I’d be jealous too,” while another added, “The concept of your music uplifting women whilst bringing another one down.”

Despite announcing their split three months ago, Kelsea and Chase have recently sparked reconciliation chatter. Earlier this month, the two were spotted together in Croatia, where Stokes is filming Season 5 of “Outer Banks” alongside castmates Madelyn Cline, Drew Starkey, Madison Bailey and Jonathan Daviss.

Back in September, Kelsea also pushed back against “speculators” weighing in on the breakup. She posted a TikTok video with the caption reading: “CC: speculators, ‘sources,’ and hidden cameras outside the hair salon. Let us be. Please.”
