Lil Nas X spotted smiling ahead of court appearance
Lil Nas X made his first court appearance since completing an inpatient treatment program, arriving at a Los Angeles courtroom on November 17 with a noticeably calm demeanor. The musician attended the brief hearing as part of ongoing proceedings related to his August arrest on assault charges.
According to Rolling Stone, Lil Nas X entered the courtroom smiling as the judge approved a protective order related to the transfer of discovery in the case. This makes it the Grammy winner’s first in-person appearance since he was arrested on August 21 after police responded to reports of an individual allegedly walking nude on Ventura Boulevard.
In a criminal complaint, officers accused the musician of using “force and violence” that resulted in injury to three responding officers. Following his arrest, Lil Nas X was released and admitted himself to an out-of-state inpatient treatment facility, leading to his absence from a scheduled court date in September.
After Monday’s hearing, attorney Drew Findling spoke briefly to reporters, emphasizing the musician’s progress since leaving treatment. He said, “As you can see, Montero is doing amazing, doing great, and we’re super happy for him.” Findling also highlighted the support system surrounding Lil Nas X, including family members and his professional team.
In a video posted in August, the singer reassured fans about the situation. He said, “Your girl is gonna be okay, boo. Okay? S**t’s gonna be all right.”
Lil Nas X is next scheduled to return to court on March 12 as the case moves forward.
