Queen Camilla has committed a royal blunder.
Speaking publicly about somebody’s weight is often seen as a topic off-limits that one shouldn’t mention. While it was done in a rather discreet way, the Queen could be heard discussing that with Welsh actress Ruth Jones.
“Haven’t you lost masses of weight?” the Queen was heard saying to Ruth at an event in South Wales last week.
Ruth became famous when she and James Corden created the critically acclaimed BBC sitcom Gavin & Stacey.
Queen Camilla asked actress Ruth Jones about if she had lost “masses of weight”
While people online felt the question of Ruth’s weight loss was inappropriate, the actress took it with a grain of salt. “Yes, I have, thank you! I’ve lost a bit of weight!” Ruth responded in the clip shared by Rebecca English of the Daily Mail.
The actress hasn’t only made headlines for her shows, but also for her massive change in appearance. In 2011, she made headlines for dropping nearly 60 pounds. She attributes the successful weight loss to aversion therapy. She says that her hypnotist, Paul McKenna, trained her to curb her diet.
Camilla is no stranger to awkward moments, seemingly shooing away her daughter-in-law, Kate Middleton, in September. This was during a get together with US President Donald Trump and the First Lady. In October, the Queen reportedly irritated her husband, King Charles, by suggesting installing a permanent library in Buckingham Palace.
Charles and Camilla were in Wales to celebrate the former’s 77th birthday last week. The celebrations come amid Charles, who is currently dealing with cancer. His son and heir to the throne, Prince William, said last month that things were progressing positively regarding his father’s condition.
Ruth has a couple of upcoming shows set for release next year, including The Other Bennet Sister, which will air on BBC One. Run Away will come out on Netflix on New Year’s Day.
