Chief’s Coach Will ‘Clean Things Up’ Amid Travis Kelce’s Frustration

The Kansas City Chiefs’ 2025-26 NFL season isn’t going in the direction fans had hoped for, despite the consistent efforts of star players Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, and coach Andy Reid seems to be aware of the gap in quality. The veteran tactician opened up about his side’s campaign so far, following their defeat to the Denver Broncos, stating that even though the season remains salvageable, the team needs to get on the same page and “take care of the small things.”

Coach Andy Reid comments on Chiefs’ loss

While talking to reporters after the Chiefs’ 22-19 loss vs the Broncos, Reid backed his team to make the playoffs this season if they can “clean up” some discrepancies.

“We’re not quite as negative as the outside world is. We know what we need to clean up, and we need to do it, but the guys, they get it. Some of these guys have been through some pretty good seasons, and this isn’t like this one’s lost. We just got to clean up a few of these things, and the urgency level, obviously, we got to make sure we take care of that now,” the 67-year-old coach said. (via Chiefs’ official YouTube channel)

He then shared his plan to fix the Chiefs’ underwhelming form. “You’ve got to, you have to take care of the small things,” Reid stated. “And that’s coaches included. I mean, whether it’s volume, whether it’s fundamentals, you know, it’s you got to take care of the small things,” he added.

Reid also highlighted some faults that have been hurting his side. “Why are we having the penalties? And then let’s fix that. And don’t point to the officials, don’t point here or there, take responsibility for it. If it’s fundamentals, if you’re on the back end and you need to plant and drive, why didn’t we do our offensive line?” the Chiefs coach remarked.

Andy Reid’s frustration with his team’s performance this campaign aligns with Travis Kelce’s reaction to the Chiefs’ latest loss. Despite having established the all-time touchdown record of 84 in Kansas City’s history, Kelce noted, “If you’re going to ask me about the record, I could care less about that right now.” (via ESPN)

Kelce and the Chiefs will now face the Indianapolis Colts, with hopes of getting their season on track.
