Olivia Munn is no stranger to sharing candid, often self-deprecating stories, but her latest confession may be one of her most memorable. During a recent appearance on “Today with Jenna & Friends,” the actress opened up about a bath-time decision she now looks back on with horror and humor. Without diving too deeply into the details, Munn hinted that exhaustion, hotel room comforts, and a craving for sushi led to an incident she’ll never forget.
Olivia Munn recalls doing this in her bath and that led to food poisoning
Appearing as a co-host on the Nov. 18 episode of “Today with Jenna & Friends,” Munn prefaced her story with a warning. It was, in her words, “one of the grossest things” she had ever done — as per PEOPLE. The “Newsroom” star explained that she was filming at the time and staying at a Vancouver hotel known for its exceptional sushi. Exhausted and eager to unwind, she said she decided to run a hot bath while simultaneously ordering dinner.
According to Munn, she placed her sushi on the ledge of the tub, planning to eat as she soaked. After stepping away briefly, she returned, climbed into the bath, and began eating the meal she had left beside the steaming water. At the time, she said, she didn’t think twice about it.
The next day, however, she learned just how questionable that decision had been. Munn said she came down with what she believed to be a bout of food poisoning, describing a particularly unpleasant moment at the airport. While browsing in a gift shop before her flight, she suddenly found herself projectile vomiting into a trash can from several feet away. The actress joked about the situation but made it clear she views the sushi-in-the-bath choice as the likely culprit.
“Sushi’s not supposed to be heated by bath water for sure,” she remarked, noting that even though the fish didn’t taste noticeably heated, the setup was obviously less than sanitary. Munn cringed as she recounted the experience, adding, “I hate myself for telling that story.”
