The Chrisley family are no strangers to breaking the law. Todd Chrisley and Julie Chrisley, have both spent time behind bars. While Todd and Julie seemed like a wholesome family on TV, a lot was going on behind the scenes. The couple was not as honest off-screen as they appeared on camera.
Todd and Julie might have spent time in their own prison cells, but apparently their youngest daughter almost had a brush with the law as well. Savannah Chrisley had a bit of an airport situation…
Savannah Chrisley had a problem in customs and “almost went to jail”
Flying internationally can be tricky. Some countries allow things that others do not. That’s where customs agents come into play. According to Savannah, on a recent episode of the Unlocked podcast with her father, she suffered a close call.
“Should we tell my story about how I almost went to jail?” Savannah asked Todd. While her father joked that he would rather not talk about anyone in the family going to jail, she continued on with the story.
“So I didn’t know, and this is just a PSA for people. When you are traveling, you have to declare if you make purchases overseas, which I did. I gave them a number, and I didn’t know it was this serious,” she said. Apparently, the customs agent asked her exactly how much she paid for the items. Her number was far off, to which her father responded, “Shocker.”
Savannah claimed she wasn’t really keeping track. The customs agent warned that because of her mistake, he could seize all of her items and charge her a large fine.
“I was sweating, I was sweating bullets,” she said. Additionally, “Grayson and his girlfriend felt my back after she died laughing ‘cause that sweatshirt was soaked. I was like, ‘Oh my god, I’m about to go to prison right now. Now this is not fun.’” Todd also reassured her that she would not have gone to jail for that.
