Author Colleen Hoover, writer of It Ends With Us, broke her silence on the Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni lawsuit. In December 2024, Blake filed paperwork accusing Justin of sexual harassment, creating a “hostile work environment” and causing “severe emotional distress” during filming.
It Ends With Us was adapted from Colleen’s novel. The 2024 movie documents Blake’s character Lily Bloom’s abusive relationship with Ryle Kincaid, played by Justin. He also directed the film.
Colleen Hoover says the Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively legal drama “feels like a circus”

In an interview with Elle published November 20, Colleen said, “It feels like a circus. When there are real people involved, with real feelings and emotions.” She added that it was sad that this drama impacted their careers in huge ways.
Colleen is preparing to give a deposition in the case within a few weeks. She’s “trying to stay removed from the negativity” during the dispute.
Blake told The New York Times, “I hope that my legal action helps pull back the curtain on these sinister retaliatory tactics to harm people who speak up about misconduct and helps protect others who may be targeted.”
After calling Blake’s accusations “completely false, outrageous and intentionally salacious,” Bryan Freedman, Justin’s lawyer, said she made “multiple demands and threats” during filming, like not showing up to filming and not promoting the movie. The lawsuit was filed to “fix her negative reputation,” he added. Blake was a producer on the movie.
Colleen initially supported Blake on her Instagram Story, writing, “Blake Lively you have been nothing but honest, kind, supportive and patient since the day we met. Thank you for being exactly the human that you are. Never change. Never wilt.” She later deleted the account and has kept silent until now.
“I have my own story I could tell … but I don’t want to bring attention to it, and I don’t want to have to put someone else down to lift myself up,” Colleen said to Elle. “So, I’d rather just ignore it and let people think and say what they’re going to say.”
Blake and Justin’s trial is scheduled for March 2026.
