Former Prince Andrew’s ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, may be preparing to spend time away from Britain as the 65-year-old’s controversy continues to get worse. The Duchess of York is reportedly considering options abroad, including Switzerland. Royal biographer Andrew Lownie claims that Ferguson seems ready to put some distance between herself and her former husband. Hence, while Andrew faces financial and personal troubles, Ferguson wants some space.

Speaking on the Daily Express show, Andrew Lownie said that former Prince Andrew’s ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, appears to have stepped back from supporting him amid the growing controversy. Lownie claimed, “Fergie’s abandoned him, he’s lost his attraction.” He added that since Andrew no longer lives at Royal Lodge and has lost his official roles, “she’s gonna do her own thing.”
Moreover, the biographer went on to suggest that Ferguson may travel for a while but would eventually return, stating, “She may go to Switzerland, I think she may, you know, could go quietly somewhere in London, keep low for a while, but I think she’ll be back.” According to him, Ferguson wants to keep her life private, while the Duke of York continues to face public scrutiny.
During the same interview, Lownie brought up earlier reports that Ferguson had stayed at controversial properties years after claiming she had cut ties. However, the 64-year-old has not responded to these new comments, and her representatives have previously dismissed those claims.
The royal biographer also said members of the Royal family had long shielded Andrew. He said, “There is a contract between the people and the monarchy,” adding, “They get respect when they serve us well. When they behave in ways seen as self-serving, they’re in trouble.”
Right now, it seems former Prince Andrew’s ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, is seeking to step away from the controversy surrounding her ex-husband. As such, a move abroad could give her time to reset.
