Tech billionaire Elon Musk has extended a formal thank you to President Donald Trump, showing a definitive end to their months-long and very public political feud. The gesture came just one day after Musk attended an exclusive White House dinner and followed a direct, joking prompt from Trump himself during a speech.
Elon Musk has a note for Donald Trump as feud ends
Elon Musk thanked President Donald Trump on X after the president publicly questioned whether the Tesla CEO had “ever thanked” him. The exchange comes months after their highly publicized fallout and suggests a potential thaw between the two power players.
Musk’s note arrived shortly after Trump addressed the U.S.-Saudi Investment Forum on November 19, where he discussed the “Big Beautiful Bill,” a sweeping government spending plan that includes deductions for domestically manufactured vehicles. While explaining the policy, Trump pointed at Musk in the audience and quipped, “You are so lucky I am with you, Elon,” before asking, “Has he ever thanked me properly?”
Following the remarks, Musk responded on X with a clear message of appreciation. “I would like to thank President Trump for all he has done for America and the world,” he posted along with photos from the event, which also featured leaders such as Nvidia’s Jensen Huang and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
Elon Musk’s attendance at the event signaled improving relations despite months of conflict following his exit from the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) on May 30. Their feud escalated when Musk criticized the “Big Beautiful Bill,” writing, “I’m sorry, but I just can’t stand it anymore. This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination.” The comments reportedly damaged his standing in the Trump White House.
In July, Musk announced his new American Party after criticizing Congress’s passage of Trump’s domestic policy bill. Trump then publicly called him a “train wreck” who had gone “off the rails,” on Truth Social. The tension continued through the summer, though the two later exchanged brief words at right-wing conservative Charlie Kirk’s memorial service.
