Love Island Alum Sparks Backlash After Shading Sydney Sweeney

Love Island USA season 6 finalist Leah Kateb took a dig at Sydney Sweeney after facing backlash for her latest interview with her. Kateb recently took to social media to share a video of her conversation with Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried, who were present to promote their upcoming movie, The Housemaid. The interview sparked major backlash for Kateb, with many questioning why she chose to speak with Sweeney in the first place amid the actress’ American Eagle and MAGA controversies.

Kateb recently took to Instagram to share a video of her latest interview with Sweeney and Seyfried, which received mixed reactions from fans. Her caption read, “Spilling tea and oversharing with the girls 10/10. Don’t miss all the drama – #thehousemaidmovie hits theaters Dec 19, and tickets are on sale now @housemaidmovie @lionsgate #lionsgatepartner.”

Many quickly rushed to the comment section of the post to express their disappointment in Kateb for interviewing Sweeney. One fan wrote, “sydney ??? leah wtf.” Another added, “Why would you collab with Sydney.” However, one particular comment prompted a direct response from Kateb, who clarified that the interview wasn’t a personal choice but part of a contract with Lionsgate.

According to Buzzfeed, when a fan asked, “Why are you doing videos with sydney…..” Kateb replied, “it’s almost like I have a contract with lionsgate, not homegirl.” It is to be noted that the comment has now been deleted.

Sweeney recently starred in Christy Martin’s biographical sports film, which proved to be a blockbuster disaster amid her controversies. Up next, she’ll be starring in the thriller mystery movie, The Housemaid, directed by Paul Feig and releasing on December 19. It centers around a young woman who starts anew by becoming a maid for a wealthy family. Soon, she discovers their deepest, darkest secret.

Apart from Sweeney and Seyfried, the cast includes Brandon Sklenar, Michele Morrone, Elizabeth Perkins, Indiana Elle, Mark Grossman, Hannah Cruz, Megan Ferguson, and others.
