Beloved weatherman Al Roker has shared what happened to his old Madame Tussauds wax figure that was cast when he was 300 lbs. The Today Show star responded to a segment where his fellow cohosts Carson Daly, Craig Melvin, and Savannah Guthrie reported on a new wax figure for Jeff Goldblum, the Wicked For Good actor who appeared earlier in the week on the NBC morning show. The 71-year-old weatherman mentioned that he had a wax figure of his own at the popular exhibit, though the museum had to make a significant revision.

“They had to redo mine because I lost weight,” Roker revealed during the segment.
His fellow cohosts sitting on the couch next to him were surprised that he had a wax figure. there in the first place. “Wait, you have a wax figure?” Guthrie responded. “Could you be more iconic?”
“Yeah, I have a wax figure at Madame Tussauds,” the weatherman explained before making a joke. “There was one of me at 300 pounds, and then they melted me down.”
In an effort to lose weight as a promise to his late father, Roker underwent gastric bypass surgery in 2002. He subsequently shed 150 pounds after the operation, which required the museum to recast his wax figure.
Madame Tussauds, in a statement to People, confirmed that his statue was redone the year after he had his surgery. “His figure was replaced after he met with our studio artists at Madame Tussauds for a sitting in 2003, where they took detailed measurements,” the museum said.
As for his prior wax figure, it has been placed in the museum’s archives. Roker’s current figure is located at the museum’s New York location in the “Seasons of New York City” exhibit.
Earlier this week, Al Roker was annoyed by his cohosts over a meme joke. The weatherman was absent for several weeks in October, but he has since reappeared on the show and will be a cohost for the upcoming Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade.
