Ben Affleck Opens up About His Bromance With Michael B. Jordan

Ben Affleck dished on his friendship and bromance with Michael B. Jordan at the 39th American Cinematheque Awards. The event was held at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles on Thursday, November 20. Sinners director Ryan Coogler, Tessa Thompson, Octavia Spencer, Bradley Cooper, Phylicia Rashad, Daniel Kaluuya, and Ben Affleck, among others, honored the 38-year-old actor.

Ben Affleck fondly talked about his friendship and bromance with Michael B. Jordan at the 39th American Cinematheque Awards. He shared, “It is a genuine honor and a personal joy to be here tonight to help celebrate an actor, director, a human being who I’ve been a fan and a friend of for a long time now, in a very worthy 2025 award ceremony” (via PEOPLE).

Affleck recalled watching Jordan’s true-story drama Fruitvale Station back in 2013. He admitted Jordan’s brilliant performance blew him away and called it a “life-changing movie”.

The 53-year-old star believed Jordan had huge movie star potential and reached out to him. The Gone Girl star revealed he always believed Jordan had massive potential and “a giant career ahead of him.” Affleck added, “I would be honored if he would want to sit down and talk to me sometime.”

The 53-year-old movie star excitedly added that he is grateful to gain a “front-row seat to a young man with enormous talent.” Affleck also complimented Jordan for handling his career with “grace and aplomb” and said that it’s been “one of the great joys” of his career.

The Argo star also praised Jordan for his “profound goodness” and “amazing work ethic.” Affleck also complimented the Sinners star for establishing himself as an extraordinary director, producer, and powerhouse performer on screen.

Finally, Affleck concluded his speech on a heartwarming note, raising a toast of friendship and bromance to Jordan. He said warmly, “Your friendship has meant an enormous amount to me, probably more than you know, and it has been truly one of the great, great, wonderful gifts that this opportunity here has given me.”
