Jonathan Bailey shares his experience with this Wicked: For Good prosthetic
The Bridgerton star plays the role of Fiyero in the Wicked films, but it was more challenging for him this time out. Recently, he spoke about the painful makeup that was part of the sequel as he was to turn into a scarecrow.
Jonathan Bailey shared this in an interview with Esquire’s Teo van den Broeke, who asked him, “Let’s talk about your make-up in the film. Did you actually have to get sacking hessian stuck to your face? It looked pretty painful.”
Explaining how the makeup worked, Bailey replied, “It was all prosthetics. The first thing that I started thinking about, even before the “Dancing Through Life” choreography, was exactly what the Scarecrow would look like. So, yeah, there were loads of makeup tests. But it was all real.”
The Jurassic World Rebirth actor also explained the part about how he managed to stay in the makeup for so long. “There was a lot of plumbing under the skin to try and keep me cool,” he added.
Moreover, Bailey joked about the straw hair, saying that without it, he resembled something very different from a scarecrow. He humorously stated, “Without the straw hair, I just looked like a big wheat p*nis.”
Nevertheless, Jonathan Bailey’s stint as the Scarecrow in Wicked: For Good is receiving immense praise from fans. The sequel picks up directly from where the first film left off, with Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Marissa Bode, Ethan Slater, Bowen Yang, Michelle Yeoh, and Jeff Goldblum reprising their roles.
