Travis Kelce’s Dad Ed Kelce Steps Up to Defend Him Amid Critics

Travis Kelce is receiving strong support from home as criticism mounts around the Kansas City Chiefs tight end during an up-and-down season. His dad, Ed Kelce, has stepped in publicly to shut down doubts about his son’s performance.

Travis Kelce’s dad, Ed, made his stance clear on November 23, posting a clapback response on Instagram aimed at those questioning Travis’ current level of play. “If anyone questions how good Travis is playing,” he wrote, “through week 10 he leads all tight ends in total yardage.” His post doubled as a reminder that the 36-year-old remains one of the league’s most effective tight ends even as the Chiefs navigate a shaky 5–5 standing.

Beyond the stats Ed cited, Travis has stacked up several career achievements this season. Earlier in November, he broke a major Kansas City Chiefs franchise record by scoring his 84th touchdown during the team’s matchup against the Denver Broncos. The moment pushed him past previous all-time marks and reaffirmed his place as one of the most prolific players in team history.

In October, Travis also hit his 100th career touchdown, including playoff games, which is a milestone he celebrated in signature fashion. After reaching the end zone, he paid tribute to fiancée Taylor Swift by performing a dance inspired by her “The Fate of Ophelia” music video.

Despite these highlights, Travis has been honest about the Chiefs’ uneven season. “Right now, it’s a different season than we’ve had since I can remember,” he said during a November 21 press conference. Still, he emphasized staying locked in. “With that being said, every single day is a new challenge, and I love that.”

Furthermore, Travis Kelce has been dealing with questions about his retirement plans. Addressing the possibility himself, Kelce explained, “Seeing my brother go through it and seeing how the league works, the season restarts in April, and I want to give the Chiefs a good opportunity to know whether I come back or not.” (via NFL)
