Ex-Prince Andrew’s latest horse riding appearance has sparked headlines — not for what he said, but for how he looked. The 64-year-old former royal was photographed during a solo horse ride through the frosty Windsor estate. In it, his head is bowed, with slumped shoulders, resembling a noticeably sad figure. But according to a body language expert, the melancholy display may be an intentional move.
Ex-Prince Andrew’s ‘sad outing’ is a change in tactic, per body language expert
After years of controversy and the loss of his royal privileges, Ex-Prince Andrew’s recent horse riding photos are drawing attention. Per The Mirror’s exclusive report, the former Prince might be adopting a new persona. It is the one designed to evoke sympathy rather than defiance.
Body language analyst Judi James told The Mirror that the shift is not just noticeable. It might be strategic. James said, “We’ve been treated to the sight of a variety of different body language mood states from Andrew since the scandal opened up.” She added, “These photos seem to signal a desire to project a new state, though, which could be very neatly labelled ‘downcast’.”
James described the “staging” of the photos as almost “theatrical.” She pointed to Andrew’s slumped posture and downturned expression, explaining, “His head is tilted, and his eyes are cast down at the ground. His shoulders appear slumped, and his mood even seems to have been transferred to his poor horse, which has a similarly glum look.”
Still, James suggested that Andrew’s body position looked unnatural for someone with lifelong riding experience. She claimed, “It’s usually normal to sit upright in the saddle to ensure you’re in charge of the horse. Like skiing and other similar sports, it’s rare to adopt an overtly moody pose to do it.”
The expert believes the ex-Prince Andrew’s horse riding outing could be part of a broader effort to reconnect with King Charles and the public. She said, “Andrew could, of course, be feeling understandably sad.” She added, “But this could also be performative if he’s realised the arrogant, defiant displays didn’t work.”
