Former Prince Andrew, now known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, is undergoing intense pressure to testify before the U.S. Congress’ House Oversight Committee. U.S. lawmakers are seeking more details about his ties to convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein.
This pressure comes as several recent emails from Jeffrey’s estate were released. Many of them inferred Andrew’s indiscretions with the then underage Virginia Giuffre, who died of suicide in April 2025. Andrew has denied his association with Virginia.
Ex-Prince Andrew is named in Jeffrey Epstein emails

The increased push for Andrew to testify was prompted by emails confirming that the photos of the former royal with teenage Virginia were authentic, according to RadarOnline.com. Virginia said the photo in question was taken on a disposable camera prior to a London outing with Andrew and his cohort Ghislaine Maxwell. Ghislaine is currently serving 20 years in prison for assisting in the sex trafficking ring.
In one email exchange from 2011, Jeffrey encourages a journalist to investigate Virginia. She was allegedly trafficked to Andrew when she was just 17. The email stated, “Yes she was on my plane, and yes she had her picture taken with Andrew, as many of my employees have.”
These emails included evidence that Andrew and Jeffrey were still in touch after Andrew publicly claimed he cut all ties. He allegedly wrote, “Please make sure that every statement or legal letter states clearly that I am NOT involved and that I knew and know NOTHING about any of these allegations. I can’t take any more of this [on] my end.”
According to House Democrat Suhas Subramanyam, part of the Oversight Committee, Andrew has not responded to the request to testify. He has the option to do so remotely.
In the past few weeks, Andrew’s brother, King Charles, has taken steps to distance the royal family from the disgraced former Duke of York. He was stripped of all his titles and banished from his Windsor residence, Royal Lodge.
