Jason Kelce, retired Philadelphia Eagles center and self-proclaimed storyteller, hit the trending charts over a comment about his younger brother, Travis Kelce, on their latest New Heights episode. While talking about life as a dad to four daughters, Jason cracked a joke about navigating “girl dad” territory, but not everyone on the internet found it funny.
Jason Kelce labels Travis Kelce a ‘girl’
On the podcast, Jason Kelce opened up about raising his four daughters, namely Wyatt, 6, Elliotte, 4, Bennett, 2, and baby Finn, 7 months. Further, he also gave props to his wife, Kylie Kelce, for keeping the household on track.
While talking about life as a “girl dad,” he joked, “The only girl I grew up with is Travis, so this is new territory,” delivering it with a laugh that quickly went viral.
Most fans saw it as classic brotherly ribbing, but a few called it “derogatory” or off-base. It also proved the notion that even playful sibling banter can blow up when you’re famous and always in headlines. Jason was referring to the emotional shift of parenting daughters, which is completely different from raising boys.
Moving forward, the 38-year-old also spilled the tea on his parenting style, discussing discipline and character-building with his daughters.
Not long ago, Jason made waves online after he denied Wyatt her own waffle at Disney World. “I’m not raising some spoiled little f—— rotten child. She’s (his daughter Wyatt) sharing,” he joked, recalling that day. As a parent, Jason has laid down firm rules against selfishness, meanness, and lying, while still letting his daughters enjoy the occasional treat.
The former footballer also talked about how hard it is to be a strict parent, especially when his kids give him a cute stare. “It was very hard not to be that dad, it is very difficult when they look at me a certain way to not cave.” He added, “Kylie is better at resisting that than I am, 100%.”
Not too long ago, during Halloween season, Jason Kelce opened up about how much he loves spooking his kids and how easily they get scared. The bottom line is that he knows when to go easy and when to get firm, making sure his kids get both fun and discipline.
