Life after Love Island USA didn’t go exactly as planned for Amaya Espinal. She won the show alongside her partner, Bryan Arenales, only for them to wind up calling it quits a few weeks after the season wrapped.
These days, Amaya has moved on from her highly publicized heartbreak. She’s riding the wave of her newly found fame, cashing checks from brand deals left and right. She’s also back in the dating game, and she just opened up about how she’s learning from her past mistakes.
Amaya Espinal won’t “lower her standards” for a man
In a chat with OK! Magazine, Amaya Papaya confirmed that she’s back in the streets following her split from Bryan. When those two called it quits, she said it was because their visions “didn’t align.” Now, she knows to make sure that her next partner is 100 percent on the same page as her.
“I be dating,” Amaya told the outlet, before dishing on her approach to it all.
“Before you even get into dating, you have to know you’re OK by yourself,” she said. “You should learn how to be alone before you’re even spending time with somebody else.”
According to Amaya, it’s important to self-reflect and know what you want in a relationship before getting too deep. Then, you’ve got to stick to it and find someone who is aligned.
“Once you know what you want, don’t let that other partner try to make you compromise or lower your standards,” Amaya said.
