Dax Shepard & Kristen Bell’s Kids Thought Actress Was a ‘B***h’

Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell revealed that their two daughters temporarily turned against their mom, especially thinking of her as “bi**h,” after learning something about their parents’ relationship.

While promoting their upcoming movie on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Dax Shepard shared that his daughters, Lincoln, 12, and Delta, 10, were unusually eager to watch Hit and Run. The indie film he wrote, which is loosely based on his and Kristen Bell’s relationship.

“Our kids rarely show interest in us, as anyone with kids knows, but they did want to see this movie we made, cause we’re very much in love,” Shepard explained. He added that when they shot the film, they were “childless, and we had nothing to do but love each other.” Bell said the girls adored the early scenes where the couple’s characters “started trusting each other.” However, their enthusiasm disappeared the moment the breakup scene appeared.

“They were very upset,” Shepard said, before adding what caught everyone off guard. “And what made me happy is they were mad at mom, not me.” He continued, “They thought mom was a bi**h. They thought dad was a good boy with a bad past, and she should be able to overlook that, and I agree.”

Even so, the kids loved the film overall, despite it being “so inappropriate.” Shepard noted, “It was a great litmus test for our children. They have a great sense of humor. They’ll go hard in the paint, our kids.”

Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell’s real-life story began in 2007 when they met at a birthday dinner. A chance encounter two weeks later at a Detroit Red Wings game made the connection happen, especially since they were both from Michigan. Their romance, however, hit a bump three months in with Shepard backing off. But the breakup didn’t last long. Just four days later, the actor came back.

By 2009, the couple was engaged. They married in 2013, welcomed their first daughter the same year, and had their second child in 2014.
