Fans might be taking pointers from Patrick Mahomes’ impressive on-field moves, but his eating habits have failed to impress them. The Kansas City quarterback is receiving flak from fans for the most bizarre reason: his turkey-eating method. Mahomes’ way of relishing his Thanksgiving turkey in a now viral commercial seems ‘nasty’ to viewers.
Internet reacts to Patrick Mahomes’s turkey-eating method in new clip
Patrick Mahomes is sparking controversy with his turkey-eating method, raising eyebrows from social media users. Although the star footballer will be missing Thanksgiving dinner for a match against the Dallas Cowboys in Texas, his holiday spirit was radiating through and through in the trending Adidas commercial.
However, things soon went downhill when the NFL legend resorted to his infamous food habit. For those unaware, Patrick Mahomes puts ketchup on everything savoury, like chicken wings. He even ensures that good ketchup is always available at his and teammate Travis Kelce’s new steakhouse, 1587 Prime, in Kansas City.
The Chiefs quarterback had previously revealed during an appearance on KCSP 610 Sports Radio that he’ll be slathering his turkey and ham with ketchup on Thanksgiving, just like he does with his steak. Jumping on the bandwagon, Adidas featured Mahomes in the controversial Thanksgiving ad where he douses his turkey in ketchup.
Mahomes has been getting heat for his ketchup obsession for many years. So much so that the NFL legend even explained to InsideHook about where his love for ketchup stems from.
“It was a long time ago, but when I was a little kid, I used to just eat ketchup sandwiches that were just ketchup and bread. I used to get teased about it all the time because people thought it was very strange that I didn’t put any ham, turkey or anything else on it, just ketchup and bread. I grew out of it, so, I don’t do that anymore”, he expressed.
Fans stand divided on the revelation, with some amused by his bold move and others calling it a culinary crime. “Nasty ass, that’s why u lost to the Eagles,” one X user wrote. “Just when I was starting to forgive him,” another commented.
“Just by him doing that, the Chiefs will lose,” a disapproving fan comment read. “My thought is that you’re fucking retarded,” yet another user wrote.
