The First Lady is delving into the movie industry. On Friday, Melania Trump revealed her new production company. This news comes with a new documentary about the wife of US President Donald Trump on the horizon. Amazon MGM Studios is reportedly paying a whopping $40 million to license the movie about Melania. The documentary is directed by Brett Ratner, known for films such as X-Men: The Last Stand and the Rush Hour trilogy.
The alleged fee for the upcoming Melania film has sparked controversy that Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is cozying up to the President’s administration.
Melania Trump has launched Muse Films
Aside from public appearances that come with being the President’s wife, 2026 promises to be a busy year for Melania in other capacities. She will likely be walking the red carpet to promote her upcoming documentary. On Friday, we were introduced to her new company, called Muse Films. It’s unclear what involvement her company will have in the movie, simply titled Melania.
Not only is the supposed fee for her documentary making headlines, but also the choice of director. Brett previously faced sexual misconduct allegations during the #MeToo movement, all of which he denied.
The film Melania is said to focus on the 20 days leading up to Donald’s Presidential inauguration. Her husband successfully won a second term as President in 2024, defeating Kamala Harris. Donald lost the 2020 election to Joe Biden. Melania scolded her stepson earlier this month according to reports. Eric Trump spoke on a podcast bringing up her son Barron after remarks reportedly made about outgoing President during his dad’s 2025 inauguration. Melania apparently didn’t take kindly to Eric bringing up Barron’s name.
There aren’t many details about the First Lady’s new project, except for a short 10-second video with music and the company’s logo. In her X post, she also promoted the upcoming documentary about her.
This marks the First Lady’s first significant solo venture since returning to the spotlight this year, with her husband back in power. The announcement comes shortly after Donald pushed for a new Rush Hour movie to be greenlit, directed by Brett.
Melania is set for release in theatres on January 30 before streaming on Amazon Prime.
