Savannah Guthrie is apparently eager to see Reba McEntire tie the knot right now. The host of Today jumped the gun on the country singer’s upcoming wedding to Rex Linn. The Queen of Country was quick to correct the slip-up by Savannah, who is normally reliable. Reba and Rex’s engagement went public during an interview at the Emmy Awards earlier this year.
Reba is making her share of TV appearances to promote the new season of Happy’s Place, with her soon-to-be husband also a part of that show.
The pair became engaged in December 2024.

While Reba and Rex are preparing to tie the knot, they have yet to say I do. That was an important detail Savannah forgot about during her interview with Reba live on Monday. On the news program Today, Savannah said, “You also met your husband there, so Rex, good ole Rex.” Reba was quick to step in, clarifying that: “Before everybody has a conniption fit at home, we’re just engaged.”
Rex was watching the interview offstage and appeared shocked when the camera cut to him after Savannah made the slip-up. His expression seemed to soften when his fiancée set the record straight. The pair held off on sharing their big engagement news late last year because of the wildfires in California. Apparently, it was Dolly Parton who convinced Rex to pop the question.
The couple’s wedding will reportedly be low-key. While they only reconnected and began dating in 2020, they’ve known one another much longer than that. They met in the 90s and reconnected this decade after Reba’s mom died in 2020. The two met on set for the show The Gambler Returns: The Luck of the Draw. Reba also guest-starred in Young Sheldon, a show that Rex had a recurring role on.
A new episode of Season Two’s Happy’s Place, which co-stars the engaged couple, comes out on December 5.
