Jason Kelce Didn’t Get Away With His Musket Shot Fail

Jason Kelce stepped onto the field before the Giants-Patriots NFL game last night with a musket strapped over his shoulder, ready to fire the ceremonial musket shot before kick-off. When asked if he’d ever actually fired a musket before this, Kelce admitted, “Never in my life.”

Kelce’s lack of experience firing a musket was apparent as soon as he pulled the trigger. Fans only saw smoke puffing out of the back of the musket, instead of the usual bang from the front.

Fans react to Jason Kelce’s musket shot debut

When the video of Jason Kelce’s musket fail hit the internet, the clip instantly went viral, with fans pouring in with reactions. A fan commented, “It didn’t even fire.”

Fans kept coming in with hilarious takes. One fan joked that Jason Kelce was just out there doing a “side quest.” Another added that Jason Kelce, in a “tricorn hat firing a musket,” was the peak American energy fans needed on a Monday.

Jason Kelce found himself getting roasted by some fans while others praised him. One fan stated, “The man is a national treasure. Now he just needs to use that cannon for a field‑clearing block!” Another hilariously chimed in, “They would never give Kelce a loaded weapon.”

For those unfamiliar with the NFL, Jason Kelce is a legend of the game and widely hailed as one of the best centers the sport has seen. He spent his entire 13‑year career (2011–2023) with the Philadelphia Eagles after being selected in the sixth round of the 2011 NFL Draft.

Kelce quickly exceeded expectations, becoming the backbone of the Eagles’ offensive line, starting a jaw-dropping 156 straight regular‑season games. Over his career, he racked up seven Pro Bowl selections and six first-team All-Pro honors. He also led the Eagles to their first-ever Super Bowl win in 2018, bringing home that Lombardi Trophy.

Jason Kelce hung up his cleats in March 2024, saying the grind on his body was brutal and he wanted to stay healthy for the sake of his family. However, he’s been keeping busy since, co-hosting a hit podcast with his brother, Travis Kelce. He’s also a regular pundit on shows such as Monday Night Countdown and hosts his own late-night show called They Call It Late Night with Jason Kelce.
