McBee Dynasty’s Steve McBee Sr. Surrenders to Prison; Begins 24-Month Sentence

It’s official. Steve McBee Sr. is behind bars. The father of The McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys was forced to surrender on December 1 to begin serving his 24-month sentence in federal prison. However, he’s holding out hope that he won’t have to complete the entire stay

Steve McBee Sr. was convicted for crop insurance fraud

As a reminder, Steve initially pleaded guilty in November 2024 to one count of federal crop insurance fraud. After a lengthy FBI investigation, he admitted to underreporting his soybean and corn yields, which resulted in him receiving millions of dollars in federal insurance subsidies. It’s estimated that his actions caused a $4 million loss to the United States Department of Agriculture from 2018 to 2020.

After the sentencing, the feds ordered Steve to surrender to prison no later than 2 pm on Monday, December 1. People confirmed that he turned himself in to a federal facility in Yankton, South Dakota, around 1:30. 30 minutes to spare!

Steve originally faced 30 years in prison, so, relatively speaking, a 24-month sentence is a pretty good deal. Still, he’s already angling for a pardon from President Donald Trump. In the days leading up to his surrender, Steve said he was in nearly daily contact with fellow reality star, Todd Chrisley. Supposedly, he gave him hundreds of tips on surviving prison and getting out early.

“I’ve been meeting with pardon attorneys,” Steve admitted in a pre-prison interview. “We’re putting everything together to fill out the application and turn everything in.”

We’ll see you on the other side, Steve.

The McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys is streaming on Peacock, along with Hayu in the UK and Ireland.
