Sean “Diddy” Combs, who went from being one of music’s biggest names to one of its most disgraced, recently spoke out against the Netflix docuseries by 50 Cent, chronicling his life and legal troubles. The currently incarcerated musician called the docuseries a “shameful hit piece,” and also accused Netflix of using stolen footage. Diddy made these claims through a spokesperson.
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs slams 50 Cent’s Netflix docuseries
Sean Combs, better known as Diddy, was sentenced to 50 months in prison with credit for 12 months’ time served in October 2025. This was after he was accused of federal sex trafficking, transportation to engage in prostitution, and racketeering.
Prior to the convictions and accusations, Diddy was considered one of the biggest names in the industry. He was credited with developing artists like the Notorious B.I.G., Mary J. Blige, and Usher.
Now, a new Netflix series, produced by his longtime rival 50 Cent, is ready for a December 2, 2025, premiere. But the disgraced music mogul has taken issue with it and has accused Netflix of using stolen footage.
Sean “Diddy” Combs claimed that this 50 Cent-produced documentary included “private moments, pre-indictment material from an unfinished project and conversations involving legal strategy (via The Guardian).”
“Today’s GMA teaser confirms that Netflix relied on stolen footage that was never authorized for release.” Diddy’s team said in a statement. “As Netflix and CEO Ted Sarandos know, Mr Combs has been amassing footage since he was 19 to tell his own story, in his own way. It is fundamentally unfair, and illegal, for Netflix to misappropriate that work,” it further added.
The statement continued, “None of this was obtained from Sean Combs or his team, and its inclusion raises very serious questions about how this material was accessed and why Netflix chose to use it.” Moreover, the statement claimed that Diddy’s legal team was in touch with Netflix.
50 Cent has emphasized that this documentary was not for his personal vendetta against Diddy.
Sean Combs: The Reckoning premieres on December 2, 2025, on Netflix.
