Gwyneth Paltrow has opened up about an unexpected challenge in her marriage, which is enjoying the holiday season with a husband who can’t stand it. The Oscar-winning actress admitted that she often feels “alone” during Christmas because Brad Falchuk dislikes nearly every festive tradition she adores.
Gwyneth Paltrow talks about feeling alone during holidays
Gwyneth Paltrow revealed on her Goop podcast that she and Brad Falchuk approach the holidays from completely different angles. While she immerses herself in the season with music, decorations, and family rituals, Falchuk prefers none of it. The star even joked that her husband is a “Grinch,” explaining that his lack of enthusiasm sometimes leaves her feeling isolated. “My husband is a little bit of a Grinch so he’s the opposite,” she said, adding, “But I love the decorations, I love the Frank Sinatra Christmas album. I really get into the holiday spirit.”
Furthermore, Paltrow didn’t hold back while describing Falchuk’s holiday aversions. “Brad is the worst,” she said, adding, “He hates Christmas music, he hates Christmas decorations, he hates roast turkey, like, he hates the traditional dinner.” When asked if Falchuk looks forward to anything during the season, she admitted, “He looks forward to it being over.”
Despite her husband’s indifference, Gwyneth Paltrow shared that their children embrace the festivities. With daughter Apple and son Moses, whom she shares with ex-husband Chris Martin, along with Falchuk’s children, Isabella and Brody, the house is still filled with excitement. “I feel very alone in my house in my love for Christmas, although all the kids love it, so they’re on my side,” she quipped.
The actress further shared that she and the kids always spend the holidays together, celebrating both Christmas and Hanukkah. “We have a really fun Christmas morning. We usually take a long time to open presents. And then have a long walk on the beach and, you know, eat and stay in pajamas.”
