Timothée Chalamet talks about being called ‘Lisan al Gaib’
During a recent interview for Vanity Fair, Timothée Chalamet and Adam Sandler rewatched some clips from their famous movies and discussed their experiences working on them.
Looking back on his performance in Dune: Part Two, Chalamet revealed how challenging it was to memorize Paul’s intense monologue. Later in the segment, the actor shared, “The first film didn’t have, for Paul Atreides, that climactic moment, so it felt like I was building to it for years.”
Chalamet then admitted, “And now, you know, if I’m in the streets, someone will go ‘Lisan al Gaib,’ which is more humiliating than it sounds.” Sandler burst into laughter before the pair moved on to the next segment.
The interview took place at Fairfax High School’s gymnasium in Los Angeles, where the actors gushed about each other’s performances. Chalamet had nothing but praise for Sandler, calling him “one of the best f******g actors of all time.” Sandler reciprocated, telling the Dune star, “What you continue to do for cinema and for all of us is beyond it all. I just cannot wait to see what you bring in the future.”
Chalamet and Sandler first met in the early 2010s on the set of Jason Reitman’s comedy drama, Men, Women & Children. Chalamet’s scenes were later cut from the final edit. However, the actors remained friends since then. In 2023, Chalamet was spotted enjoying an outdoor basketball game with Sandler in New York.
Meanwhile, fans are excited to see Chalamet and Sandler back on screen in their upcoming releases. Chalamet stars in the sports comedy drama, Marty Supreme, directed by Josh Safdie, while Sandler is a part of the star-studded ensemble cast for Noah Baumbach’s Jay Kelly.
