When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle chose to walk away from their royal duties in 2020, Harry lost his security detail. It was downgraded as he was no longer a working royal. The couple left for the United States, and when they visited the United Kingdom, they would not have the same level of security. While this was originally ruled the year they left, it could be reassessed on a case-by-case basis.
This year, Harry went to court in an attempt to overrule the order. He said he was concerned about his and his family’s safety in the UK. His lawyer argued that he was unfairly singled out. They claimed that he was given “inferior” treatment from the royal family.
Unfortunately for Harry, the judge was not on the same boat. The senior judge claimed that there was no basis for appeal. He said that his “sense of grievance” over the lack of security did not warrant a change in his details. Harry and his family were not granted stricter protection.
Prince Harry is fighting to have his royal protection restored

Not long after the ruling, Prince Harry had a scary interaction with a stalker that may have been preventable if the court had ruled differently.
When Harry was in the UK for the WellChild Awards in September, he had a terrifying run-in with his alleged stalker. Inside London’s Royal Lancaster Hotel, a female stalker broke through a secure area. Harry was inside the hotel at the time. The woman was found inside a hotel bathroom, muttering strange things about the prince. She was escorted off the property.
She did not stop there. Two days later, she got within yards of Harry, according to Radar Online. While at the Centre for Blast Injury Studies at Imperial College in West London, the same stalker nearly encountered Harry. When she is unable to find him in public, she writes letters not only to Harry but also to Meghan and their children. It’s not surprising that Harry is pushing for stronger security in the UK moving forward.
