Prince Harry and Stephen Colbert engage in playful banter in new clip
Prince Harry is returning to “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” after more than two years. To make sure the world knew about it, the duo recorded a clip in which they engaged in playful banter over a viral “Great British Bake Off” sound bite.
The 41-year-old member of the British royalty was sitting on the guest chair as he lip-synced to the “Great British Bake Off” co-host Alison Hammond’s voice and asked the host, “So, if you were treated like a king for a day, what would you want me to do for ya?”
To this, Colbert responded in baker Mark Lutton’s Northern Irish tones, saying, “Umm… bake for me, probably?” “You want me to do what?” said Harry, instantly channelling Hammond’s confusion and mimicking her reaction. “Bake,” Colbert mouthed back, to which the Duke of Sussex said, “Beg?” The talk show host then clarified, saying, “Bake. Bake!.” But Harry replied again, “Beg?”
Finally, Colbert pronounced the word, clarifying, “Bake. B-A-K-E. Bake,” making Harry realize, “Wha? Oh, bake!” He then laughed, showing Hammond’s joyful reaction. Their hilarious clip has since gone viral for their playful antics.
This is not the first time that the father of two has made a talk show appearance on the channel. Harry last visited the set in January 2023 to talk about his memoir, “Spare.” He even recorded an installment of “The Colbert Questionert,” which was aired weeks later.
